Viva La Dirt League, the New Zealand based viral video comedy troupe, has crossed a line that can’t be walked back. The comedy trio that made its name with gaming and technology store skits has now decided to brand Israel a genocidal state. In a statement plastered on their socials, Alan, Rowan, and Adam declared that “a genocide is happening in Gaza” and called on their fans to donate to Palestinian causes.
This isn’t charity. This is propaganda. By parroting Hamas’s blood-soaked narrative, Viva La Dirt League is smearing the Jewish people and erasing the atrocities that started this war. Rowan doubled down in a separate video, looking into the camera and claiming that Israel is carrying out genocide against Palestinians. That is not just ignorance, it is incitement.
Here are the facts: Hamas butchered, raped, and kidnapped Israelis on October 7 in the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. They hide behind civilians, fire from schools and hospitals, and ensure Palestinian suffering for the cameras. Israel, under constant rocket fire, warns civilians to evacuate, opens aid corridors, and even pauses operations to save lives — all while being accused of “genocide” by armchair activists and now by a comedy troupe thousands of miles away.
Words like genocide are not harmless. They demonize Israel, they embolden antijewism, and they put Jews everywhere in danger. For entertainers who once prided themselves on creating fun and escapism to suddenly weaponize their platform against the Jewish people is shocking to say the least.
Jewish fans are rightfully outraged. Why should we give clicks, views, or money to people who accuse Israel of crimes it has not committed, while raising funds that blur the line between humanitarian aid and political activism? VLDL could have chosen to call for peace, to condemn Hamas, to recognize Jewish suffering. Instead, they chose the Hamas narrative.
The choice now lies with the community. If you stand with Israel, if you stand against lies that fuel hatred, the message is simple: unfollow Viva La Dirt League. Strip them of the Jewish support. Entertainment ends where slander begins.
