Howie Silbiger, Founder, Editor and Publisher
A Montreal broadcaster, journalist, educator and former business owner, Howie has spent much of his career working in and around the Jewish community. His background includes radio, print journalism, education, restaurant and food-service management and kosher supervision.
He began his broadcasting career in Montreal radio, working at CJAD and later hosting programs on Radio Shalom. He is also the founder of TrueTalk Radio and the host of The Howie Silbiger Show and Political Hitman.
As a journalist, Howie has covered local politics, terrorism, Jewish communal affairs, education and the issues affecting Jewish life in Montreal. His work has appeared in The Suburban, and he has spent years following stories that often receive little attention from larger news organizations.
Howie is also an experienced educator and school administrator. That background gives him a particular interest in Jewish education, community institutions and the decisions that affect Jewish families.
He created Montreal Jewish News to provide independent coverage of Montreal’s Jewish community and to report stories that might otherwise be ignored, oversimplified or forgotten.
