A man who spat pure venom at Jews on the streets of St. Laurent has been unleashed back into the city and the community is furious.
Tamrabet Sid Ali, 28, was charged after a tirade so vile it left people shaken. In a 22-second clip blasted across social media, Sid Ali can be seen screaming “We will kill you” at a man in a kippah before turning his rage on others, snarling “You f—ing pig.”
Court records accuse him of a campaign of harassment that terrorized a woman and her family, leaving them in fear for their lives. He’s also accused of threatening to kill two more men in a spree of intimidation that stretched across days.
And yet, instead of being locked away, Sid Ali walked out of custody with little more than a slap on the wrist. The so-called “conditions” are laughable: show up to court, and don’t contact the people you threatened. That’s it.
Jewish families are left staring down a man accused of promising their deaths — now free to roam the very same streets.
Community leader Mayer Feig didn’t hide his disgust: “It’s very disappointing. Things have to change.”
Change, maybe but tonight Montreal knows the truth: a man accused of promising murder is free, and his victims are left to look over their shoulders.
