Wolf “Wolf Pack” Bronet, Dead at 100

Posted on March 18, 2026 by News Desk

Wolf Bronet, a Holocaust survivor, community builder, and quiet force of purpose in Montreal’s Jewish community, has died at the age of 100.

Born in Warsaw, Poland, Mr. Bronet’s early life was shattered by the horrors of the Holocaust. He survived Auschwitz and the unimaginable brutality that claimed the lives of so many. Like others of his generation, he emerged from that darkness not only with scars, but with a determination to rebuild, to live, and to ensure that Jewish life would continue with strength and dignity.

He eventually made his way to Montreal, where he built a life defined not by what he endured, but by what he gave. He became a steady and familiar presence in the community, a man who did not seek recognition but whose impact was deeply felt by all who knew him.

Mr. Bronet was the driving force behind the “Wolf Pack,” a running group based out of the YM-YWHA that grew into something far greater than its name suggested. What began as a simple gathering of runners became, under his leadership, a vehicle for philanthropy and purpose. Through the group’s efforts, Mr. Bronet helped raise funds to send more than a dozen ambulances to Israel through Magen David Adom, each one a tangible expression of his commitment to saving lives and strengthening the Jewish people.

He was later recognized as an Ambassador-at-Large for Canadian Magen David Adom, a title that reflected not only his dedication, but the respect he earned through years of tireless work.

Those who knew him describe a man of discipline, humility, and unwavering resolve. He carried the weight of history with him, but he did not allow it to define him. Instead, it informed a life of action. Whether through his daily routines, his involvement in the community, or his encouragement of others, he lived with a sense of purpose that never wavered.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Henia, and a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was the center of his world, and his legacy lives on through them, not only in name, but in values, in memory, and in the quiet strength he instilled in each generation.

Wolf Bronet belonged to a generation that rebuilt from nothing, that understood loss on a scale few can comprehend, and that chose, nevertheless, to build, to give, and to live with dignity. As that generation fades, the responsibility to remember and to carry forward their lessons grows ever more urgent.

His funeral will take place on Thursday at 3:00pm. Please follow this link for more information: https://www.paperman.com/funerals/Wolf-Bronet-FCD0EE95
